Pauline backs Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month
6th March 2010
Pauline Latham is supporting Ovarian Cancer Action's Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month in March.
Pauline Latham attended the launch of Ovarian Cancer Action’s Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month which highlights the work of the charity's campaign to ensure more women survive ovarian cancer.
Awareness of ovarian cancer and its symptoms is low amongst women and Ovarian Cancer Action has led the campaign to improve awareness over recent years – resulting in the Department of Health’s focus on ovarian cancer when it launched the National Awareness and Early Diagnosis Initiative (NAEDI). NAEDI’s focus on ovarian cancer resulted in a consensus being reached by leading clinicians, researchers and charities with an interest in ovarian cancer on the common symptoms of ovarian cancer, which resulted in a set of key messages on the symptoms of ovarian cancer. Further to these key messages, Ovarian Cancer Action launched the UK’s first ovarian cancer symptoms awareness campaign, which features actress Emilia Fox and is endorsed by the Royal College of GPs.
A new online campaign has also been launched www.ovarian.org.uk and a video on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O7Zv3JxfI3g

"I fully endorse this campaign by this excellent charity and would encourage all women to take a few moments to read their "Remember the Symptoms" advertisement."
