Caroline Spelman visits Belper
6th May 2009
Caroline Spelman MP visited Belper to talk to councillors before the County Council elections in June. She followed this by speaking at a fund raising lunch at Morley Hayes where about 60 members and friends heard her reiterate her message of hard work ahead.
Caroline Spelman who is the Shadow Secretary of State for Local Government wanted to meet with local councillors and activists in the run up to the very important County Council elections. She talked about the importance of the coming elections and that for the first time in 28 years Derbyshire stood a good chance of becoming a Conservative Council. She urged candidates to campaign hard and explained how many of our Conservative policies would help the people of Derbyshire.
Commenting on the visit, Pauline Latham added:
"Caroline impressed on everyone she met that this was a realistic target to turn Derbyshire blue for the first time in 28 years and Belper in particular is a target seat which we have to win this time. Hard work was her message."
