Pauline Latham visits Milford Community School and discusses school and community issues.

Today (27th March) Pauline Latham visited Milford Community School and met with the Headteacher, Matthew and some of the staff to listen to any concerns they had about the education system, and also to discuss the work of the school and local community issues. The local issues that were discussed ranged from the community campaign to try and get a foot bridge reinstated over the river Derwent, to the campaign and need for a pedestrian crossing over the busy A6 road that runs outside the school to the need for more youth facilities in the village.

Pauline said, ‘The time spent talking with the staff at Milford School was invaluable. The ever improving reputation of the school is credit to the commitment shown by the staff and the Headteacher to their pupils. Not only are the staff committed to the children of the school, shown by their continuing drive to instate a crossing on the A6, but it was delightful to see the commitment to the community as a whole. Should the school be able to get more capital investment they wish to build community buildings for the pre-school activities held but that could also be used for youth club events as well.’
