Visit to Network Rail
29th September 2009
Pauline Latham vistied Network Rail at Lichfield Lane in Derby to see for herself how an important employer in Derby is developing its business.
Pauline was accompanied by fellow Conservative Prospective Parliamentary Candidates (PPCs) for Derby North and Derby South, Stephen Mold, and Jack Perschke. The were shown the new country-wide railway signalling centre which is currently being trialled and will soon be extended to cover the whole country.
Network Rail is working closely with East Midlands Trains for this trial period, and the PPCs were able to see at first hand the high levels of information exchange needed between the two organisations to make a project like this succeed.
After her visit, Pauline said:
“It was most impressive to see the advances in signalling. Derby has always been a city with high skill levels and it is projects like this, which keep it at the forefront of the development of new technologies.”
