A ‘Taste of Derbyshire’ in Parliament

On Wednesday 10th October I hosted a ‘Taste of Derbyshire’ event in Parliament. I was supported by a number of my fellow Derbyshire MP’s including Lee Rowley, Nigel Mills, Ruth George and Toby Perkins.

This event was a great opportunity to showcase some of the finest food and drink from across Derbyshire. There were many delicious things to try, including, cheese, pork pies, sausages, chocolate, gin, beer and ice-cream.

The businesses showcasing their goods varied in size, with smaller bus...inesses such as John Mettrick Butchers and White Peak Distillery and bigger companies including Ferrero and Global Brands.

From Mid Derbyshire I welcomed Bluebell Dairy and Shiny Brewery. I was impressed by Bluebell Dairy’s tasty gin and tonic sorbet. I also enjoyed a glass of lager, from my local brewer.

Hundreds of members of staff from the House of Parliament attended this bustling event. It was great to see many of my fellow Members of Parliament attend, including the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, Rt Hon. Elizabeth Truss MP. Liz kindly took time to chat with businesses and even asked for suggestions ahead of the upcoming budget.

This was a very enjoyable event and I hope all the producers had a great day! This event highlighted what a wonderful place Derbyshire is and all the wonderful array of produce it has to offer.
