Remembering the Ukrainian Holodomor

It was a great honour to sponsor an exhibition on the Ukrainian Holdomor, in the Upper Waiting Hall in Parliament.

The Holodomor was a man-made famine in Soviet Ukraine in 1932 and 1933. It saw the murder of millions of Ukrainians, some estimates say as many as 10 million.

A ‘Taste of Derbyshire’ in Parliament

On Wednesday 10th October I hosted a ‘Taste of Derbyshire’ event in Parliament. I was supported by a number of my fellow Derbyshire MP’s including Lee Rowley, Nigel Mills, Ruth George and Toby Perkins.

Last week Pauline Latham attended an event in Parliament which was to raise awareness of stem cell donations, especially for those from Asian or other ethnic minority backgrounds, who can find it particularly difficult to find matches.

Pauline Latham OBE MP, who is a long time campaigner against the Ivory trade, welcomes the Ivory Bill, which is to be introduced to Parliament today.  This legislation will be the toughest in Europe and indeed one of the toughest in the world.
