This week, King Charles III visited Parliament to unveil the plaque marking the place of the lying-in-state of Queen Elizabeth II, following her death in September of this year.
I was honoured to represent Mid Derbyshire at the event, where His Majesty unveiled the plaque and also turned on the Platinum Jubilee lamps, which were Parliament’s gift to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
Westminster Hall is the traditional place for a lying-in-state, with many monarchs and just two Prime Ministers having been awarded such a prestigious honour.
