I was honoured to plant a Remembrance Cross in Parliament’s Constituency Garden of Remembrance earlier this week.
It represents Mid Derbyshire’s tribute to all of those who have served and sacrificed over the years. There is one Remembrance stake for each of the 650 constituencies making up the United Kingdom, as well as for the Commonwealth countries and the British Overseas Territories.
Today, on the 101st anniversary of the first celebration of Remembrance Day, we remember all those who fought to protect the freedoms we care so much about and who never came home, and we recognise the ongoing service of our armed forces, including so many young men and women from Mid Derbyshire, in keeping us safe.
