In yesterday’s Education Questions, Pauline Latham OBE MP praised Ecclesbourne School in her constituency for its recent accolade as being one of the top 22 in the country, as awarded in Tatler.
Mrs Latham went on to ask what the Department for Education was doing to ensure that all schools attain Ecclesbourne’s high standards. The Secretary of State for Education joined Mrs Latham in her praise of the school, and said that the Government hope to raise the standard and quality of the educational experience through their ‘Schools of Character’ initiative.
The award takes into account attainment, the role of staff and the school environment. If you work for a school, and would like to know more about the scheme, please visit https://character.org/schools-of-character/
Mrs Latham, MP for Mid Derbyshire said:
“As a former governor at Ecclesbourne, I am delighted that the school’s achievements have been acknowledged in such a way. I am hopeful that the Government’s new initiative will help other schools to become outstanding."
